I
have always had a passion for the law and for justice to be served.
My law career began as an attorney for the insurance industry. I
then undertook a specialty in personal injury and civil litigation.
Later I served as a prosecutor handling criminal cases from the
government perspective .I received my Bachelor Of Arts
Degree, with honors, from Michigan State University and attended
Indiana University where I received my law degree in 1986. I am
a member of the Orange County Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan,
The Florida Bar, Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense
Lawyers, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Phi
Alpha Delta. I am also very pleased to announce that I have been awarded a BV Peer Review Rating from LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell. It is the result of an extensive and confidential peer review by members of the Florida Bar. The BV Peer Review Rating identifies a lawyer with high to very high legal ability, and is a definite reflection of professional expertise and experience. In addition to my law practice, I have made an enthusiastic
commitment as pro-bono legal counsel and Advisory Board Member to
the Mad Cow Theatre Company, which was recently named Orlando’s
Best Professional Theatre for the third year in a row.
“Never buy a car
from a friend. Never work for a friend.”
When Mr. Cameron asked me to come help him open his own law firm
in 1993, I had already broken one of those golden rules. Years earlier,
not long after we had become friends, I bought a car from him. It
turned out to be one of the best cars I ever had. So it wasn’t
hard to break the other golden rule when in 1993 he asked me to
help him for a few months to open his law practice. I figured, I
wasn’t going to work for him that long, and our friendship,
which at that point was many years old, wouldn’t be hurt by
unpacking a few boxes and setting up a filing system. Well, I was
right about the friendship not suffering, but I was wrong about
the “few months.” I’m still here, 11 years later.
This is the best job I’ve had in my 30 years of legal experience.
I enjoy helping the people we represent, the beautiful old building
that houses our office, and I enjoy working with a friend who is
as smart and interesting as Andrew Cameron.
I Joined the firm shortly
after we relocated to our new office in late 1999. I am a domestic
short-hair, caramel in color and tabby in design and temperament,
with a calming and serene impact on the stress experienced by many
our clients confronting legal difficulties. You can expect to meet
me near the front door where I am usually relaxing. If I feel like
it, I will announce your arrival and departure, but only on good
days. I even help in ensuring that our clients find their way and
that they are promptly greeted. An active participant in the firm,
if invited, I will often times sit in on client interviews and assist
with the review of documents, discovery and preparation of briefs
and pleadings, as well as giving a hearty reassurance to our clients
and the rest of the staff.
