Your decision to “come clean” with the police by admitting your wrongdoing in the hope that the authorities will “give you a break” or in some way reward your honesty with them is probably wrong. The police are not stopping your car or interviewing you to test your integrity. Despite their statements to the contrary, the police may use any admissions you make such as “I know that I have had too much to drink” or “I know my license is suspended” to charge you with the most severe criminal offense at their disposal.
