Dog bite cases, unlike other negligence cases, carry a strict liability
standard of proof. Under this burden of proof, if a dog bites
you, the dog's owner is responsible for your injury without the
necessity of proving that the owner was negligent in the supervision
of his/her dog. When a dog attacks a person, the resultant injuries
can sometimes be severe, requiring emergency and ongoing medical
treatment. Scars and disfigurement can occur in serious cases, and
in the worst scenarios, victims may be killed.
